A ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland
Located at the very heart of the Diocese of Maryland, the Bishop Claggett Center is a place apart where people from all walks of life
come for a time of reflection, rejuvenation, and community building. Maintaining a functional and comfortable physical plant is a very
important ingredient for the success of any visit to Claggett. To ensure that Claggett facilities keep pace with the needs of our
guests, the Diocese of Maryland adopted a Campus Plan as a long-term roadmap for development of facilities.
The Diocese of Maryland has now embarked on the first phase of implementing the Campus Plan with the construction of new meeting and dining facilities. The construction contract was awarded to Waynesboro Construction on June 16, 2005 and the expected completion date for the work is May 2006. These pictures are intended to provide insight into the design for the new buildings and a visual status report on the progress of construction.
While construction of new facilities is underway, work continues on renewal. Most recently this includes window replacement and the addition of vinyl siding to East Cottage, the relocation of our pole barns for storage of equipment, and the rehabilitation of the front porch of Powell Hall, including new code compliant handrails to protect the safety and welfare of our guests.
